Technology
“Technology will never replace great teachers, but in the hands of great teachers, it’s transformational.”
George Couro Tweet
Integrating technology into every day teaching can be extremely helpful.
However, it should be used with caution as not all learners have the technology at home.
With the pandemic, testing out and learning new technology has been incredibly important. As someone who already has a good technology base, new tricks and tools are enjoyable to learn.
At PLKCKY we use technology in most of our lessons, whether it’s to present with a powerpoint or to give students time to research and type essays.
While completing my internship at WHK Gymnasium I learned to use a smart board and integrate apple devices in a well-funded private school. This was incredibly different to the way in which we had been teaching at Sze Yap- the local school.
During my time at Sze Yap I had the opportunity to ensure that the school gained a smart TV/board in the English room. It has been a learning curve to be able to use this.
The technologies and tools I have learned or practiced over the past year have been:
- WordPress
- Microsoft PowerPoint interactive presentations -> turning some into videos
- Loom
- Interactive smartboard/TV
- Video creation (video editor/Inshot)
- YouTube
- Voice recording
- Zoom
- Skype
Tools used for behaviour management
- ClassDojo (school mentor)
